when you feel happy, you commit acts of goodness

How Self Care Affects More Than Yourself

The happier, you are, the kinder you will be. The more peace you feel, the more patient you will be. The you live from a place of love, the more compassionate you will be.

None of the above statements are rooted in any scientific proof that I am aware of, but in my own world, they seem black and white to me. This post is about taking care of yourself so that you in turn, may take care of and love and support your neighbor, friend, brother, or even that stranger who cuts you off in traffic.

You know how on the airplane they insist you put the oxygen mask on yourself before assisting the child that is with you, that is exactly what I am talking about. If you pass out, you are no help to that child. If you are unavailable, it will be very difficult to do any good.

Same message, different supporting fact, life while abundant and brilliant, can be downright hard on a person. Of course, difficult times do serve a purpose, but times can take their toll nonetheless. One more reason, that you need to be sure to take time, and even make time… to take care of yourself and meet your needs.

“Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe. No less than the stars and the trees. In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. “

Okay, so Self Care. We have all heard the term and we have all seen the many books and posts and quotes. Be aware and know that self care is going to look different for different kinds of people. Meditation and yoga, while enlightening and fruitful, may not be your forte. That is okay. That doesn’t mean you are doomed to be stressed and worn down. Find what works for you.
